I am of course, very well aware that some of the older art on this page is atrocious. Why do I keep it? Well, I'm often frustrated by the fact I'm not a natural artist - every picture I draw is the result of a lot of hard work, and I frequently feel that I'm not getting back the returns due for the amount of effort I put in. At such times, it is helpful to me to remember and look back on pictures from past years, because even I am forced to admit that I have improved, and that helps me keep going, even when a picture isn't flowing well, because I know that soon enough I will be looking back on what I do now, and thinking how poor it is compared to what I can do in that future time.
I also hope that, in some small way, this is helpful to people who find themselves thinking as I sometimes do: that they can't draw, and never will be able to. This is not true. What may be true is that you cannot draw yet. I cannot draw nearly as well as I would like to. But I believe that I will one day, and that keeps me trying.
