Tiernach, younger (by 5 minutes) of the twin sons of King Maximillian Irontooth. He doesn't know it at the start of the story, but he's going to commit, some of the worst war crimes and most heinous magical experiments performed in living memory. He will displace his father from the throne, outlaw his brother, and assume the crown under dubious circumstances. His family and friends will come to fear him, his nobles will remain loyal only through greed or fear, and the population of his kingdom will be mercilessly ruled by the military.
If only someone would notice that he's being blackmailed and is increasingly a puppet in someone else's master plan.
But alas, once one makes a deal with the devil, one rarely gets to back out without paying up. Sealed since the time of the Dragon War, four dragons have slumbered beneath the earth for nearly a millenium. Until, that is, a chance encounter with the dark cult The Brotherhood of The Eye brings a great plan into the mind of their leader. Now, their power harnessed by Tiernach's formidable magic, the dragons do the bidding of the cult, unleashing destruction upon the world in preparation for what is to come, for while Tiernach wants only the secrets that the Brotherhood hold - the key to immortality, the key to never allowing those he cares about to die - they want nothing less than the ressurection of their leader, the most powerful and feared black mage ever to have lived.
