Fellirion is one of the more powerful magi alive at this time. He is also, as chance would have it, the uncle of Feral's mother. Quite what this makes him I haven't figured out, but the old man does seem to feel a certain responsibility for Feral. Since it is he who is the current employer of Cassanya, and she was in the area at the time of the attack on Feral's village, it is no surprise that she is directed to find Feral and protect him.
Sadly, Fellirion has rather more responsibilities than simply Feral. As a member of the Council of Magi, he is assigned to attend the bi-annual meeting between the Freelands and the kingdom of Lordenor, where he learns some about some highly disturbing matters. Never quite on friendly terms, the two great powers may once again be poised on the edge of war, and only Fellirion seems to realise that they are being played off against each other. Can he stop them tearing each other apart?
